Misty morning over Bickford Pond in Porter, Maine, with a loon swimming in the foreground and forested hills in the background.

The Pond. The Promise.

Bickford Pond gives us more than just our name. It’s the baseline for everything we make.

Our family has spent generations at that camp, which led us to a single rule: if we wouldn't pack it in the truck to get there, we don't make it. The clothes we design are meant to take a beating for years to come.

My grandfather grew up going to the camp just like I did. He knew how to put things together the right way. If the Bickford name goes on a tag, the clothing has to back it up. We want to make clothes he would look at and say, "Job well done."

Today, we are a husband-and-wife team applying that exact standard to our business. We design everything out of our shop in Burlington, Vermont, using Vanessa’s background in garment construction and my background in supply chain logistics to ensure we do it right.

About Luke

I’ve spent the majority of my working career in the apparel industry, handling supply chain logistics and sourcing for major brands across New England. After years behind the scenes, I realized a frustrating truth: you can’t convince people to buy American-made clothes if the price of a shirt is $300.

Right now, domestic manufacturing is treated like a luxury. My job at Bickford is to fix that. I use my background in sourcing to run a tight supply chain, track down the best materials, and cut out the massive markups. We want to make high-quality, American-made gear something you can actually afford to wear every day.

Built for A Lifetime

We make clothes that will last a lifetime of stories. We know that sometimes, it's the tangible things that will strike a memory you lost a long time ago. The feel of an old sweater, the fade of a trusted canvas. When we design our clothes, we aren't only trying to relive the memories we have lost, but we are looking forward to the new ones that will be created. At Bickford, we don’t overcomplicate it. We make simple, durable, and authentic pieces that will live with you through life's entire journey. That starts with our commitment to American manufacturing.
